Be

This year I began my planner with a theme ‘Be.’ I found this lovely image with a flower bud with it with the letters written on it and drew it in on the first page of my planner. I chose the theme because I knew this year would be about accepting the way things naturally are.

The Reason

When I quit my teaching job I knew it would be hard to replace it. Teaching is what comes easy to me. I began touching upon my creative pursuits to continue working at my own time and pace, often not gainful but satisfying nevertheless.

So this year was about just being what I wanted to. In terms of my surroundings, the people I met, the work I did. I found pushing too hard only brought back severe anxieties. So I took the zen in me and brought it out. My planner replicated almost every week but I found a discipline and calm within it.

It’s hard to stay in your comfort zone when the world is always telling you to step out of it. I just found solace in being myself whether moody or less ambitious, happy or content, crazy or angry. I somehow found the flow in it.

I also found that I couldn’t change certain things about me and my situation. Not that in time that I may not have opportunities or find better ways to cope with reality. The acceptance helped me absorb tranquility in my actions and the days that I led.

We all go through different seasons. I know I’ve ridden the waves over time but I find myself in a phase where I just need to pause and also keep doing the things that are right now bringing me happiness.

I’ll say it for myself it’s okay to let go of what’s not working, be a little lost and find those small passions. There’s a simplicity and serenity sometimes in not doing too much and taking a step back.

Be

My mantra this year to find good energy in small endeavors, finding calm in the everyday ordinary, reliving the smallest moments with equal joy, acceptance of things that can’t be changed, knowing who I am and what I can and can’t be and letting things unfold gradually and gracefully while I continue to be.
