The Balloon Man

Do you remember yourself way back when balloons made you giddy with excitement? Do you remember how it was so hard to pick the perfect colour when eventually pop it would go and sometimes bring you to tears? As an adult, I love chasing down a balloon man. The image looks so simple and joyful in a stressful and busy world. It almost makes you slow down. Walk down my street with me and meet The Balloon Man.

The Balloon Man

From the dim street light he emerged

With a pop of colours

Pink, Red and Green

Walking down with the balloons

He’s here to bring some joy

On that ordinary day

When a balloon means as much as the sky

He walks on

For someone to holler

Call out for that balloon

A little girl asks her Papa

For the blue one that she sees

The balloon man smiles and waves it at her

Her happiness twinkles in her eyes

She shouts with glee as the string touches her palm

Then her Papa hands a few rupees to him

He smiles and pockets his earning

For his little one who’s sick needs it

More than the wondrous balloons in his hand

That will pop any second

He walks on and

Hopes to sell all the bobbing balloons in his hand that day

The balloon man who sells joy for a rupee

Sweet November! Just like a balloon giving joy for a fleeting moment I know November will breeze by but not without some colorful memories and moments, some hues of soft blues, pretty pinks, bright yellows, quirky purples and soothing greens to float through your day like you were the balloon man holding the balloons that will make up your days.
