A Slow Tango

Write a letter to your 100-year-old self.

Dear Pari,

If you find this

You’re probably a 100

Which means you’ve had good health

And plenty of laughter

You’ve also had

Long walks in the rain

Sunshine on your balcony

Plants to brighten your day

A forever pet friend

Books on your shelves

And plenty of rainbows

Turning 100

May also have meant

Terrible highs and lows

Chaotic days

Sudden outbursts

And nervous breakdowns

But I hope that through this

You travelled much of the world

Found some adventure

Even though you can be a ninny

Saw Mt. Fuji and the Eiffel Tower

I hope you didn’t do it alone

That through the

Sunshine and walks

Visit to the pyramids

Through sickness

And happy times

You had someone

To love and to hold

To snuggle up with at night

To read a book with you

Lay in the grass and listen to them recite a poem

And to have danced a slow sweet tango

This 100 year old life with you

Love Always,
