I haven’t been anywhere other than the comfort of my home and a Mayer concert but I traveled with my art for sure. I’ve been taking great joy in slowing down how I work on an art piece, trying to enliven my art space @naiveheart8, and yes trying to manage a little art sale online.
But first it started with some Linocut Dreams. I’ve been watching linocut artists and their mastery over this technique. I just had to try it on my own. So with heaps of instructions and valuable advice from ChatGPT I went on a hunt for materials, then trying to trace and transfer, carving with more precision and many missed attempts at printing not to forget designing my first test Lino print. I loved every minute of it and although I know I’m no linocut artist it is still a process I’m going to love visiting every now and then.

Then the art sale, Nature Notes a few simple art cards; there was some dejection but I pushed on to sell a mini batch. I learnt a lot of myself with it from planning, co-ordinating, making carousels, handling orders. I couldn’t have tried this small venture without my sister Kashmira and our production co-ordinator Bhavin (yes I’m a little pampered, need help always) they made it seem possible for me. At first I didn’t see the value of it but it took some time to know my art traveled to someone’s hands.
I still can’t understand how something that never really meant that much to me once can play such a big part in my life and how I choose to spend my time.
As I post this I’ve let go of my art account temporarily. I just felt there was too much pressure to get it right and for it to be seen. The art however lives in notebooks and sketchbooks and I will continue sharing my art here. The art in me survives…

It takes just one drawing at your desk, one scribble at night, a brushstroke on a lazy afternoon to know art can fill you up inside and out, upside and down.
