Freshness

There was a stillness in the air that day

She felt heavy with every step that she took

Her thoughts were a jumble

She tried to sift through

What had she done wrong?

She wasn’t sure

To deserve this torment

Of being alone

With every step she took

She tried to sift through

Was she destined to be this way?

In a shell wrapping her up

She tried to sift through

Her memories weren’t hers

They were untrue

Detached from reality

What was she do?

She walked on

She tried to sift through

There came flowers on her path

She noticed their freshness, their beauty

She realized they would die soon

Was she willing to give up too?

So she decided to let go of those memories

That seemed to grapple with her mind

She decided to embrace a new life

And the deep blue sky
