May would always signify a month of prepping for classes as a teacher and my anxiety would peak as the days would inch slowly to another year at school. Sadly I don’t have that currently but this time around I decided to make this a busy and productive month. Almost as though I was preparing for a new year at school. Here’s Faith Logs for you!
Slowly making Progress
Well the canvas is now mostly on my mind because I see myself making good progress with it and I feel a little relieved that it is.
The other day I took a picture of it and the painting seemed to light up and slowly emerge. It made me very happy. I had another little stitching project running on the side but I had to give it up because I was clearly not cut out for it. So it cleared the way for me to focus on the canvas. Any guesses when I’ll finish this long held project?
Laapata Ladies
I tried to take a break from reading and writing and watch a movie instead one weekend. It was a lighthearted comedy about a couple of wives getting swapped. It took my mind off the usual for awhile.
Lights out!
Summer has always been where the lights have to go out. The neighborhood almost always is heard saying Oh my God! all together and saying yayyyyy! when they’re back. I’ve had fond memories of the lights going as a young kid. Teenagers would play pranks in the building. We’d play shadow puppetry and the walls would come alive with bunnies and swans. This month too I was out on my balcony and I instantly felt the neighborhood transform into a village. Calm came over me and I was actually thankful for the lights to have gone out so long. Funny how the smallest things bring you joy.
A Book Release
I’ve been working for sometime on ‘The Dervish.’ It’s a romantic novella one that I spun out of a memory where I witnessed whirling dervishes. Although a very simple story I was compelled to write it for the central character. It’s a book I enjoyed writing and I saw its release this month. This month has been very hectic trying to go through the publishing process once again. Things did seem easier because I wasn’t a complete novice at it.
