Faith Logs is here again.
A rather unusual month for me, considering I have a tendency to drift quite a bit. But this month, I had a slightly different experience.
I’ve been looking for something apart from writing that would feel like meaningful work, something that connected to my creativity, but also something that didn’t take me back to school because, quite honestly, I just couldn’t bring myself to do that.
Naive HeArt – The Shop gave me an instant sense of purpose and something to do. It taught me little things about myself that things can go wrong and you are still capable enough to tackle them; that sometimes the most unexpected things happen, and you somehow find a way to embrace them.
I’m grateful for the lovely people who visited the shop and appreciated it. You kept the little shop alive for me in its early days.
One thing that struck me most was that I felt like I was back in the 80s, selling lemonade. The shop feels like a very 80s thing to do somehow. It has that same kind of feeling.
What I’m really trying to say is that everybody needs a project to work on. It could be something small, like tending to your garden, creating a recipe everyone loves, or simply finding that one thing that makes you want a little more from life.
For me, after a long time, I earned something. And because it was hard-earned, it felt sweeter.
Gaining back my independence is essential for me, but it also feels like a possibility now rather than just a vague idea.
Again, I keep coming back to the thought that we need something to keep us moving.
I know that work brings out a different side of me, and I welcome it. I started to come out of my comfort zone a little, short trips to the stationery shop, taking a walk, getting myself pampered. It opened me up.
I met friends along the way, learnt how to interact with more ease, and gained a little confidence. For me personally, this was a good sign.
I rarely say this, but I’m looking forward to what’s in store.
I feel hopeful, and it reminds me of a lyric from a John Mayer song:
And I’ll always let hope in wherever I’ll be
And if I go blind, I’d still find my way
That’s what hope feels like to me. It always makes you keep reaching out your hand for what might still be there.
Keep the Faith Always!
